Workshops for 2018

Dare to Paint in St Leonards - Access to Art for All

I am very excited to be running this community art project and offering the chance for adults and children who dont have access to art, to come along on 9th & 10th June 2018 to have a go at painting and drawing in The SPACE.  There will be 20 minute slots to make your marks on the canvases.

Project Name:        “Dare to Paint in St Leonards – Access to Art for All”

Set up date:            Friday 8th June 2018

Art Workshops:       9th & 10th June, 11am – 3pm

Open Evening:       14th June, 6pm at The SPACE, St Johns Road

Exhibition of the Artwork will be from 9th June until 10th July

I intend to set up an interactive installation in The SPACE of two large wooden, secured structures, which would each support an extensive primed board as a painting surface/canvas.  The purpose of these “canvases” is to invite the residents of Hastings and St Leonards to come and make their marks, for 20 minutes, on the surfaces using paint, charcoal, marker pens, and to express their response to “Dare to Paint in St Leonards”.

I want this project to engage, encourage, include, support and empower the members of the community by giving all, an opportunity to be creative, to be curious and experiment with creating art within the community space.  I offer this especially to those who have never painted or drawn before, or those who “haven’t done any art since they were at school”.  The 2 painting workshops will be run in a non judgemental environment, where whatever marks are made will be valued

The Mixed Media workshops are an opportunity to get in touch with the creative aspect of ourselves which may be pushed to one side, un-acknowledged or suppressed.  By acknowledging this  part of ourselves, we can bring more balance into our everyday lives.

Through tearing up, loosely arranging & gluing textured materials onto an A2 piece of paper then painting a simple design over the top, it will access these parts of ourselves in a fun & relaxed way & creating a unique & beautiful painting to take home.  These workshops caters for all abilities.  You don't need to be an artist to participate, just have a sense of openness to experiment and play.

All Materials, Coffee, Tea & Biscuits provided.  Bring your lunch.

If you would like more information about any of these workshops, please get in touch on Facebook or using the Contact page.
